Gift of the Gab

What wonders an orator can do was proved by our PM in the Lok Sabha election. He is articulate, deft and his extemporaneous  speech leaves the audience mesmerized  and spell-bound. His impromptu  speeches are never harangue  and usually brings the house down.  In the same way, many other political parites have eloquent  leaders who are though wet behind the ears beggar description when it comes to articulacy.  A silver tongued person can break the ice  easily and is always in the good books of his acquaintances. He never develops cold feet when it comes to public speaking. While the demophobic people cut no ice with the crowd, a gilb and nonchalant speaker with his unambiguous speech never falls short of  impressing the listener. Teaching too is more of an art that needs a lot of eloquence besides knowing the ins and outs of one’s subject. A teacher must be a live wire  and must hold the class to his leash. Loaves and fishes  must not be prime concern and he must prove himself to be a man of parts if he wants to be revered by his students. An old hand knows how to elicit responses whether it is from a class or a crowd but I am pained when I see the political partied painting the town red  in the name of rallies where the boisterous politicians boast of from the rostrum while the common man pay through his nose for such reverie in the form of tax. The leaders play to the gallery and pull the wool over the eyes of  the common people in the name of caste, religion and region. Recently the Supreme Court has put its foot down and has put an end to taxpayer- funded full blown narcissism of politicians by banning the government from issuing media advertisements containing photos of ministers and political leaders.
